PTA PUBG Ban Continued after Court Hearing on 9th July 2020




Not good news for gamers Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s hearing as the regulatory body is still unsure about the ban on PUBG Mobile.
Massively popular Battle Royale Game was announced Ban in Pakistan on 1st July after PTA received complaints from different areas of the society and parents. Suicide cases and attempts to take their own lives by Teenagers proved to be a decisive factor when the internet regulator decided to continue the temporary suspension of the game after the court hearing on 9th July 2020.

PTA, however made not a final decision on the matter after hearing the petitioners and public opinion. PTA had already asked the public to submit their response on the ban of PUBG by emailing their messages to consultation-pubg@pta.gov.pk.

PTA issued the following statement after the court hearing yesterday:

Hearing conducted in PTA on PUBG the petitioner in IHC, councils of PUBG, Civil society representatives participated and they presented their viewpoints for and against temporary / permanent Ban on PUBG. 10 July 2020 is the last date for submitting comments to PTA by the public through email on the PUBG Ban issue. The Authority will decide on the matter after due discussion in the next few coming days.

The Islamabad High Court had terminated a petition filed by a local PUBG Player who was set to represent the country in a mega gaming event. The court also directed PTA to clarify the laws under which the ban was imposed on the game.


Chinese Youngster Becomes Paralyzed on Binge Playing Games













A 15 year old youngster from Nanning city China was paralyzed in the left arm & hand subsequently playing video games for 22-hours a day for a whole month.

Boy is currently going through treatment at a local hospital to recover consciousness in his arm and hand. This is not the first time addictive gaming habits have had an opposing effect on a child’s corporal and mental health. Only recently reported two teenagers from Lahore committing suicide over PUBG (Player Unknown Battleground).

PUBG Mobile is the talk of the town particularly after the ban executed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The supervisory body provisionally suspended the Battle Royale Game in Pakistan on 1st July, issuing a press release to explain the reason behind the move.
PTA credited the decision to grievances received from numerous segments of the society, parents, Punjab Police as well as reports of multiple deaths due to the addictive nature of the game.

Indian youngster Spends Rs. 1.6 Million on PUBG Mobile


A young boy from Indian Punjab spent Rs. 1.6 million on PUBG Mobile for in-app purchases. The 17-year-old was using his parents’ account to purchase in-game cosmetics, combat passes, ammo, and other items.According to the parents, the cash that was used by the boy was set aside as savings for the fathers medical expenses. The parents were unconscious of this for a lengthy time as the youngster said that he was using the smartphone for online courses during the lockdown.Most of the wealth was spent within a month and it was very easy for the boy as the transaction and other details were only saved on the smartphone. 

The boy would keep deleting messages with transaction details and change between two different bank financial records to avoid exhausting them.
The parents only found out when they acknowledged bank statements for each of their accounts. The boy had also emptied his mother’s provident fund and his own account. In order to teach the boy a lesson the father forced him work at a scooter 
repair shop so he could earn for himself. He said that he wasn’t leaving to let his kid sit idle any longer even for studying.
