Not good news for gamers Pakistan
Telecommunication Authority’s hearing as the regulatory body is still unsure
about the ban on PUBG Mobile.
Massively popular Battle Royale
Game was announced Ban in Pakistan on 1st July after PTA received complaints
from different areas of the society and parents. Suicide cases and attempts to
take their own lives by Teenagers proved to be a decisive factor when the
internet regulator decided to continue the temporary suspension of the game
after the court hearing on 9th July 2020.
PTA, however made not a final
decision on the matter after hearing the petitioners and public opinion. PTA
had already asked the public to submit their response on the ban of PUBG by
emailing their messages to consultation-pubg@pta.gov.pk.
PTA issued the following
statement after the court hearing yesterday:
Hearing
conducted in PTA on PUBG the petitioner in IHC, councils of PUBG, Civil society
representatives participated and they presented their viewpoints for and
against temporary / permanent Ban on PUBG. 10 July 2020 is the last date for submitting
comments to PTA by the public through email on the PUBG Ban issue. The
Authority will decide on the matter after due discussion in the next few coming
days.
The Islamabad High Court had terminated
a petition filed by a local PUBG Player who was set to represent the country in
a mega gaming event. The court also directed PTA to clarify the laws under
which the ban was imposed on the game.
